How To Make A Millionaire? The Blueprint of a College Student’s Success
Reaching my goal at the end of this period was no accident. After a full semester of hard work and flirting with failure, I can happily state that my goal has been achieved. Before we moved forward, my goal was to reach the $4000 online income level by the end of the college semester. Having previous online sales experience, I wasn’t too worried about achieving the goal, but it still felt challenging. Before, I had never made more than eight hundred dollars in a month. Obviously that would not be enough to reach the goal, so I had to create a new strategy.
First of all, creating small baby step goals has been a very helpful tactic for me as I move toward success. When faced with the ultimate goal of earning four thousand dollars, I feel somewhat overwhelmed by the task at hand. By setting smaller goals, my stress to achieve the main goal was eased. Baby step goals created smaller, more manageable steps for me to take toward achieving my goal.
At the beginning of the semester, I found myself completely lost as to what steps to take. Fortunately, I had a few small goals to help me on my way to success. However, when I started working towards my smaller goals, I ran into a lot of problems with my strategy. When I tried to accomplish a small goal, sometimes I found that they were ’empty’ goals that did not advance my progress or were completely ineffective. This is where the key feature of flexibility came in to help me progress.
Without a great deal of rationality, I would have stuck with my initial plan and gone for the potentially ineffective formula. There were a few unexpected bumps in the road that caused me to change my course of action. Some of the strategies I put in place at the beginning of the project were ineffective. I’m not sure if I would have been successful if I hadn’t changed my course of action. However, it is clear that changing my course of action, several times, leads me directly to success.
Through brainstorming exercises I was able to open new ways to achieve my goal. When I felt a strategy was stalling or ineffective, I would sit down for a relaxation exercise and brainstorming session. One of the hardest parts of brainstorming is letting go of another “good” plan. Once I sat down for a brainstorming session, some amazing ideas came up.
I used a lot of visualization and relaxation techniques to center myself before working out. Trading is not an easy task. There was a need for creative thinking and a great strategy. Through relaxation practices I was able to ground and center myself before creating effective advertising campaigns and website concepts. The most effective relaxation practice came from the breathing exercises provided on the CD. Whenever I start to lose my sense of control, I will focus on the task at hand. As I practiced CD more and more, the skill of shifting my focus became much easier to learn.
One amazing tool that helped me was to remember my purpose. This semester there were many distractions that tried to distract me from my goal. I will post my target above the computer I usually work on. Every time I sit down to rest, I remember that I have to work for my goal. I also set up some accountability partners to help me stay more motivated about work. Fortunately, by reminding myself of the goal I had to accomplish, I stayed focused throughout the semester. Even during the busier times of the semester, I was constantly reminded of what I needed to work on. This was a big factor in my success in reaching my goal.
Working towards my goal has helped me discover a lot about my work habits and work style as well. What I already learned through your early-year review was that I had a low commitment trait. When the process became difficult for me to go through, I would seriously consider stopping the process. However, being aware of my weaknesses was a great tool. Because of my knowledge of these commitment issues, I was able to tell the difference between a quick escape or a deliberate change of direction.
Accountability was also a big factor in the development of goal attainment. There were even times when I would only advance because of my own responsibility. It was almost shocking how much of a difference my goal work accountability made. A great example was during class when all the students shared their goal for the week in a circle. Of course, at the end of class, I went straight to work on my goal for that week.
I have learned many lessons in the last few months about achieving goals. The lessons can probably all be summed up as that without action, your goals will never come to fruition. It is so common to project your goals into the air. After actually realizing the goal, I now know that projecting your goals into the big box won’t cut it. You must identify your goal and write a road map to get there.
