## Excel Tip – Paste A Name Into An Excel Formula

In this article I have a really quick, easy and very useful way to use the nested ranges that you have already created in your Excel workbook. If you haven’t used nested ranges in Excel before, here are three great reasons to use them-

1. Your Formulas Will Make More Sense.
2. You can easily Edit your Formulas.
3. You can easily write Super Fast Formulas.

If you need to know how to create a nested range in Excel then you can follow one of the two methods given below:

METHOD 1

Use the Formula bar

First Select a Cell or Group of Cells | Click on the Name Box | Enter your line name

(Note that there are some terms and conditions that apply to these names)

1- they can be a maximum of 255 characters long

3- stops can be inserted into them

4- cannot include a space or other punctuation

METHOD 2

First open a new Excel workbook

1. Go to the Insert menu

2. The name of the hit

3. Go to Define

• The Define Name dialog box opens for you

• Enter the name of the series

• If necessary, you can adjust the range of cells in the reference box

• Click OK

Once you’ve set up your named ranges they’re ready to use in any formula you create in your workbook. Start writing your formula, and when you need to use the nested array, all you need to do is follow the steps below

• Press the F3 key

• The name Manager Box will be displayed

• After this all your Famous Ranks will be visible

• Select the name of the row you want to include in your formula

• Click OK

Here is an example to work with. I have a series named after me tax_rate, which contains the tax rate I want to use in my formulas. I also have a sales value of 10,500 in cell A2 of my worksheet. I want to create a new value in cell B2 that is the actual tax amount applied to the sales price of 10,500, which is my sales tax rate of 23%. Let’s go ahead and construct the formula in cell D2 in my worksheet as below

=A2* tax_rate

When you’re ready to enter the tax rate into your formula, just press F3 and select the named row from your list.
