My Network Marketing Secret For Attracting Prospects to My Business Opportunity

When I was new to network marketing, I would spend an enormous amount of time following up with prospects. I would go out and find DVDs and CDs in my community that cost me $1.00-$3.00. I will also give out tons of business cards. My strategy at the time was to pull out as many tools as I could and get as many names and numbers. I would go up to people in small businesses and corporate spaces and introduce myself and ask them if they were keeping their career options open. Some people will say “yes”. At this point I will tell them that I work with a company on the New York Stock Exchange and we are currently looking for people who want to earn money from home. Prospects often ask what my company does. At the time, I was working with Pre-Paid Legal Services. I would say “Our firm helps anyone with legal needs as well as identity theft protection”, “Do you know someone or have you been a victim of identity theft?” This will increase their interest a bit and this is when I will share my company’s DVD or CD and ask them to listen to it. We will exchange contact information and I will schedule a time to follow up.

I did this every week, day in and day out for a year and a half.

I would end up with these prospects only to find that very few of them had watched the DVD or listened to the CD. This was sad. I will then schedule an appointment for a sit-down presentation. They rarely showed up for sitting appointments.

All this time I was spending time away from my family, and wasting gas and money on these prospects. Very few prospects actually took out their credit card and joined my business. At the time I didn’t know what I was doing wrong, my company was telling me to just pay the tools. They told me that the partner who gives the most tools wins.

After a year and a half of doing this I did what most struggling network marketers do and turned to the Internet for advice. I sought out other gurus and bought several training courses. This is when I learned the terms “Funded Proposal” and “Interesting Business”. I began to learn how to attract my targeted prospects who paid for themselves. I started learning how to make money upfront with my prospects, before they joined my network marketing business. I started learning Pay Per Click marketing strategies, Google AdSense, Article Marketing, Forum Marketing, Video Marketing, MySpace Marketing, and Web 2.0 strategies. The results I got in my first few months were amazing. I started to compare every month to every other month.

The biggest mental shift I had to make was to start seeing myself as an entrepreneur not a distributor. I had to see myself as the CEO of my company. I had to start selling myself and my abilities to others. I had to position myself in the minds of my prospects as someone with integrity that they wanted to do business with. When I started this job, my business changed. Calling prospects was no longer a challenge. Many perspectives appealed to me.

I focused on 2 to 4 online marketing strategies until I became proficient in using them. Then I will add a few more strategies and continue the process. At first I wrote articles and published them in many article directories online. I also participated in many online forums like Richdad.com and Magnetic Sponsoring.com. I made auctions on eBay and posted live video on my blogs, MySpace profiles, and YouTube. The best part about these strategies is that they were all free except for eBay and Pay Per Click. On eBay I will sell ebooks and post my auctions for $1.10. I will generate some targeted prospects in the auction. Then I will use Pay Per Click and Google AdWords. I will use highly targeted keywords and keep my cost per click between .30 – .50.

All of these strategies working together were changing my business. Now I was happily taking prospects every day. I would never consider going back to the way I used to build my network marketing business. I am now completely sold on interesting marketing strategies to build my business. If you want to work easier and have more fun in your network marketing business, you should learn how to use these strategies as well.
