Perfume – The Aromatic Fragrance

Perfume is known for its aromatic fragrance. It is a mixture of essential oils and aromatic compounds that gives a pleasant aroma. Perfume is often associated with the emotional and sensual aspects of one’s life. The exact chemical formula was never made public.

Some of the perfume ingredients are from animals and some of them are castor from rabbits, musk from male deer and amber from sperm. Animal substances are often used as a fixative which allows the scent to dissolve more slowly and to release the scent longer. Other fixatives include coal tar, moss, resins, or synthetic chemicals. Alcohol and sometimes water are used to dissolve the ingredients in perfumes.

Many times men and women find it difficult to achieve the perfect fragrance, a stressful and time-consuming experience. If you familiarize yourself with the six basic fragrance groups, you will not only save time, but also make your shopping experience more enjoyable.

Make a perfume

To create your perfume, divide at least 25 drops of essential oils between the base, middle and top notes. Add a few drops of bridge oil. Add 2 1/2 ounces of rubbing alcohol, shake for a few minutes and then let sit for 48 hours. Add 2 cups of spring water, stir, then pour in the coffee grounds and pour into a glass.

Aromatic oils may be used instead of essential oils for a cheaper alternative. Cover your work area with a plastic sheet. Essential oils and fragrance oils may damage surfaces. A good perfume formula should consist of 75% dilatants like vodka, and 25% perfume. Glycerin is a good preservative, which can be added to formulas to help them retain their fragrances.

Plants have long been used in perfumery as a source of essential oils and aromatic compounds. These aromatics are usually secondary metabolites produced by plants as a defense against herbivores, infections, and also to attract pollinators. Plants are by far the largest source of aromatic compounds used in perfumery. The sources of these compounds can be obtained from various parts of the plant. A plant can provide more than one source of aromatics, for example the aerial parts and seeds of coriander have distinctly different odors. Orange leaves, flowers and fruits are good sources of petit, neroli and orange oils.
